Use the videos provided, and other resources and knowledge you have, to research the different roles and responsibilities of engineers and the types of work they are involved in. Your personal statement will be expected as part of Unit 1 during the course in June.

Over the past 3 weeks you have watch videos exploring the impossible situations and problems that challenge engineers. All engineering is about solving problems, and now we want to hear your personal opinion.
Complete the following tasks:
- Research a variety further education establishments with a focus on any engineering courses they offer. You should record the entry requirements to the course. The use of ‘my world of work’ can also be research to recognise careers pathways.
- Write a personal statement, of no more than 300 words, about what type of engineer you want to be and why. Include why you are taking Higher Engineering Science and make references to the context of the role, the challenges you would face and the social, economic, sustainability and environmental impacts of that type of engineering.
Your teacher would also like to hear how you are planning to achieve your best grade possible whilst studying Higher Engineering Science.
Upon the first week of the course (beginning of June timetable), your personal statement will be required to be submitted this to your teacher. We are looking forward to reading about your well researched and reasoned personal take on engineering.
