Message from Mr Porter

Dear Pupils at JGHS,

Please see link below…

I just wanted to write a personal message to say as of next Tuesday 22 September, I am due to start as Acting Headteacher at Craigroyston Community High School. Therefore, I will be leaving JGHS this Friday 18 September but am due to return in May 2021.

I am delighted to say Mr Lewis will be covering my Depute Headteacher post while I am away.

I would have normally wanted to pop into assemblies to say a personal farewell but I am not afforded this luxury at this time.

I know pupils look to teachers for inspiration but for me it often works the other way round. I have enjoyed working at JGHS so much and current and past pupils are my main motivation. I came into teaching to make a positive difference and I will continue to work hard to help others. My favourite saying is turn obstacles into opportunities and now this is my chance to lead by example. So many obstacles ahead of me as Headteacher, yet an opportunity to lead with courage and compassion with the aim of helping a whole school community.

I understand this has been a challenging year, but as I say in the clip below, if we stick together and work hard we will come through this difficult time.

Look after yourselves and each other. I look forward to seeing you in May 2021 if not before, and wish you the best of health and happiness moving forward.

Kind regards, Mr P
